Agronomy Kora, Cezarina [1]. Advances in disease management strategies under the Pesticide Risk Reduction Program. Diseases of economically important crops grown in Canada have been a focus of the Pesticide Risk Reduction Program of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Pest Management Centre since its establishment in 2003. The Program addresses priority disease issues posing significant threat to the viability and sustainability of producing these crops through the development and implementation of issue-specific strategies. To achieve this, the Program works closely with the subject matter experts and stakeholders to improve grower access to new, reduced risk pest management solutions in grower-identified gaps. The Program has funded over 100 pathology related projects focusing on a variety of areas including disease forecasting tools for better risk assessment and timing of fungicide applications, development of biological products and cultural controls practices, as well as demonstrating integrated disease management approaches. This poster will feature progress achieved in some recent strategies being supported by the Program and will outline future directions as new issues with potential for pesticide risk reduction emerge.
