Paleobotanical Section Rass Masood, Farhat [1], Khan, Rass Masood [1], J. Axsmith, Brian [2]. Palynomorph Assemblage from Triassic of Pakistan. Palynological investigation of Middle Triassic (Anisian-Vadinian) Tredian Formation from Salt Range, Pakistan revealed rich palynomorph assemblages. The Tredian Formation is non marine (river deposit) with following members viz; Landa and Khatkiara in ascending order. White to grey thick cross bedded sandstone constitute Khatkiara Member, where as Landa Member exhibits mixture of fine grained sandstone and shale of varying types and colours. The diverse palynoflora includes triletes, monoletes, bisaccates, monosaccates, monosulcates and some varia. These findings indicate that the Paleovegetation was dominated by ferns and conifers with a gradual up-section decline in ferns accompanied by an increase in the gymnosperm. Six major plant groups have been recognized viz; ferns, equisetaleans, lycopods, conifers, glossopteroids and cycads. Using palynomorphs as climatic indicators and their frequency of distribution from the base of the Tredian Formation to the top suggests that the climate was somewhat hot with high humidity in the early depositional phase, with a gradual shift towards hot tropical to sub tropical at the terminal phase.
