An honoree of the International Water Lily Society Hall of Fame, Ed has balanced a rewarding career in tearching and research with concurrent administrative duties that began in the 1980s at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. He served as president and CEO of the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden from 1992 - 2010, and in 2010, he became director of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and professor in the department of Horticultural Sciences at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities).
