Host/Plant Pathogen Interactions and Plant Health Management Sawa, Fatima Binta J. [1], Abdul, Suleiman Dangana [2], Obadia, Caleb Dikko [3]. Bioinsecticidal Activity of Some Plants Powder on Maize Weevil (Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky) of Stored Pearl Millet (Pennisetum glaucum, L) Grains. The use of natural plant products in the control of storage pest of grains is encouraged. In this study four powder from (4) plants namely, Allium sativum (L.) (bulb) Drimia maritima (L.) (Baker) [Synonyms; Urginea maritima, Sea onion] (bulb), Erythrina senegalensis (L.) (stem bark); and Khaya senegalensis (L.) (stem bark) were evaluated as bioinsecticides against the maize weevil (Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky) of stored Pearl Millet (Pennisetum glaucum, L) grains. The efficacies of the plants powder at four (4) levels of concentration of 0.5g; 1.0g; 2.5g; and 5.0g against the maize weevil (Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky) monitored over 24hrs, 48hrs, 72hrs, and 96hrs intervals were evaluated and compared with the industrially formulated insecticide, Coopex (Permethrin 0.5%) using standard method. The results obtained indicated that all the plant materials evaluated, exhibits mortality effects at all concentration levels which increases on the basis of the length of exposure and an increase in the concentration level. Notably, powdered stem bark of Khaya senegalensis (L.) and powdered bulb of Allium sativum (L.) had the most effective Lethal Dose (LD50 values) of 0.33g and 0.22g after 24hrs.
