Advances in Modelling Plant Development.

Interdisciplinary collaboration advances research by combining expertise from different disciplines. It is greatly promoted by federal funding agencies everywhere, but to succeed, it requires effective communication between researchers of different disciplines, or relies on individuals with background and training in both disciplines to “bridge the gap”. This symposium will showcase interdisciplinary approaches to modelling plant structure and development, with the emphasis on tissues and organs. A September 2014 EMBO conference on Interdisciplinary Plant Development in Cambridge (UK) took a similar approach, as did the 2012 IEEE 4th International Symposium on Plant Growth Modeling, Simulation, Visualization and Applications.
