Non-academic Botanical Career Panel.

There is a diversity of careers for people with botanical degrees, but young botanist usually think only about academic options. Networking with professionals in non-academic careers is an excellent way to discover and prepare for alternate careers to academia. This panel will include professionals with botanical degrees working in diverse sectors (e.g., industry, government, non-profit, etc.) who will discuss careers outside of academia and answer participants’ questions. Our moderator will facilitate an open discussion between panelists and audience members, designed to address opportunities in the post-undergraduate and post-graduate job markets. Panelists have botanical degrees and the discussion will be of interest to all participating societies at Botany 2015. A networking event for participants will be hosted by the organizers and attended by additional botanical professionals later in the conference.
