Syntrichia cavallii (Negri) Ochyra a new Moss species in Southwest Nigeria.

Syntrichia cavallii (Negri) Ochyra specimen collected from Idanre hills,Ondo State, Southwest Nigeria is described as a new species to Nigeria. It is characterized by oblong-lanceolate, margin recurved. Nerve strong , excurrent. Mid-leaf cells hexagonal, basal cells rectangular, seta long, reddish , capsule cylindrical. The diagnostic characters are compared with those of most similar species. The distribution and habitat of the species is also discussed.
